Treatment Subcommittee
Mission: To review and assess current treatment programs, treatment gaps and access problems. Also the committee will review current policy issues that could help reduce access to prescription drugs.

Mission: The objective of our subcommittee is to target the community, both through the educational and medical field, for the purpose of providing relevant information, training and resources.  Through community outreach, this subcommittee will develop programs that respond to community need including the distribution of pertinent literature, development of educational forums/trainings.

Mission: The Public Relations Subcommittee’s mission is to work closely with the members of the media to inform and educate the public on the innovative steps being taken by our local government and law enforcement professionals to rid our streets, neighborhoods, and schools of heroin and other opiate-based drugs. At a time when our young people are more vulnerable than ever to heroin addiction, it is essential that the Heroin Prevention Task Force’s message reach as many people as possible.

Mission: The Legislative Subcommittee makes public policy recommendations on local, state and federal levels so as to strengthen substance abuse prevention, access to a full range of addiction services, and recovery support. We analyze issues, identify gaps and opportunities, create position papers and communicate with elected officials about the needs of Nassau’s residents impacted by heroin and other drugs.

Drug Reclamation Forum
Mission: Long Island is in the grip of a heroin and prescription drug crisis. One of the best tools in prevention is our drug reclamation programs, including Shed the Meds, Take Backs or Med Drop-off days. As part of that effort, the Task Force hosts periodic forums on drug reclamation programs. All who are active, or just interested, in these programs are always invited to participate by contacting Task Force chairman ADA René Fiechter, 516-571-1090 rene.fiechter@nassauda.org
