South Oaks Hospital, located on the Nassau/Suffolk border has a long-standing reputation of commitment to quality and compassionate care, crisis management, treatment and recovery –locally and nationally.  For more than 130 years, we continue to be one of the finest and most respected facilities in the world when it comes to providing effective treatments for a wide variety of mental health issues and chemical dependency problems for individuals of all ages.

South Oaks develops and delivers programs, community education, prevention and a variety of essential services. Our long-standing tradition of helping the youth in our community overcome acute behavioral, emotional and substance abuse issues is demonstrated by our Child and Adolescent Center of Excellence which provides inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization treatment.  This also includes our Comprehensive Outpatient Behavioral Services (COBS) designed to enhance the care available to youth and families within the community.

Our Challenge Activities Ropes Experience (C.A.R.E.) is a non traditional, experiential approach to building individual and team growth. The Project C.A.R.E. program is designed to help children and adolescents develop self esteem, confidence and trust in one’s self and others.  This program is open to youth groups, students in grades elementary--college, residential treatment programs, sports teams and individuals interested in a summer youth adventure.  South Oaks Hospital is an active partner and valuable resource in our community striving to promote wellness through education, prevention, screening and treatment.

Our Speakers’ Bureau offers complimentary signature presentations by experienced healthcare professionals on a broad range of healthcare topics including drugs and alcohol to schools, hospitals, colleges, youth groups, civic organizations, counseling centers and government agencies.

As part of South Oaks Hospital, The Suffolk County Prevention Resource Center is charged by Suffolk County and the New York State Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services as a technical assistance center, providing valuable and informative prevention resources.
